The Registre National des Entreprises (RNE) — or National Business Register of Tunisia — is the official public authority responsible for the registration, management, and publication of legal, financial, and economic data related to all business entities in Tunisia. Operating under the direct authority of the Presidency of the Government, the RNE is an autonomous public institution with both administrative and financial independence.
The Former Tunisia’s commercial registry dates back to 1890, and has undergone several major reforms throughout its history. Key milestones include the enactment of the Commercial Code in 1959, the introduction of Law No. 95-44 in 1995, and modernization efforts implemented in 2010.
A pivotal transformation occurred with the introduction of Law No. 2018-52, which replaced the traditional commercial registry with the National Business Register. Unlike its predecessor, the new system extends its scope beyond commercial companies to include merchants, liberal professions, craftsmen, and associations.
The new register is also responsible for managing the beneficial owner register, the pledge register and the self-employed register.
