Dinner in Palais des Congrès (Congress Palace)

Situated right in the heart of the Tunisian capital, on Mohammed V Avenue, the Palais des Congrès stands as a premier venue for major official and cultural events. Inaugurated in 1969, it underwent significant renovations in 1994 for Tunisia’s hosting of the 32nd session of the African Union, and again in 2019 for the 30th Arab Summit. These upgrades have transformed it into a modern, sophisticated space capable of accommodating large-scale national and international events.

The palace features a main hall that accommodates 1,200 persons, alongside multiple subsidiary halls, a VIP wing, and a presidential wing. This makes it a prestigious and versatile venue for a variety of functions. On October 7, 2025, this elegant setting will host a special artistic concert by the Khrafa Band, promising a refined cultural experience steeped in the essence of authentic Tunisian art.

Palais Kobbet Ennhas (Palace of the Copper Dome)

Leaving the bustling city centre of Tunis, a brief 15-20 minute drive west brings us to the Manouba region, home to the magnificent Palais Kobbet Ennhas. This prominent historical landmark is a remarkable testament to Tunisia’s rich civilisational heritage and architectural artistry. Constructed in 1756 during the Husainid era, it’s a unique example of traditional Tunisian architecture prevalent during that period.

Once a residence for a ruling family, the palace today meticulously preserves its authenticity and intricate architectural details. Its distinctive style combines Islamic and Andalusian influences, highlighted by a striking copper-clad dome that reflects sunlight, bestowing a particular brilliance upon the location. The palace is further enhanced by its surrounding internal and external gardens, which add to its charm and tranquility.

Amidst this atmosphere, redolent with the fragrance of civilisation, we will gather on October 8, 2025, for a dinner accompanied by a musical band. This promises to be an authentic event, pulsating with art, history, and beauty, allowing us to delve into the depths of Tunisia’s vibrant cultural heritage.

The Archaeological Site of Carthage

To speak of Tunisia’s history is to speak of Carthage. The Archaeological Site of Carthage is one of the most vital living testaments to this ancient heritage in Tunisia and the wider Mediterranean region. Founded in the ninth century BC by the Phoenicians, Carthage swiftly transformed into a major maritime and commercial power in the Mediterranean basin, before entering a protracted conflict with Rome that culminated in its destruction, followed by its reconstruction as a prosperous Roman city.

Today, the site comprises a collection of archaeological remains that bear witness to this civilisational richness, including the Punic ports, Roman baths, the theatre, and the ancient residential quarter. Its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1979 attests to its exceptional importance and cultural standing. Carthage is an indispensable destination for anyone wishing to explore the roots of history and to wander amongst the ruins of civilisations that still pulsate with life, all set against a charming natural backdrop overlooking the sea.

Sidi Bou Said, Ennejma Ezzahra (Baron D’Erlanger) Palace

Perched atop “Jebel El Manar” (Manar Mountain)—which in times past was a strategic point for monitoring and fortifying Carthage against wars and invasions—today stands the town of Sidi Bou Said. This charming town was recently named the third most beautiful town in the world by Time Out magazine.

Sidi Bou Said is characterised by authentic Arab-Islamic architecture, celebrating the duality of blue and white, where only these two colours adorn the walls, doors, and windows. The houses, embellished with beautiful ancient inscriptions and decorations, appear as if stacked one upon another, connected by narrow paved alleys and passages.

Among Sidi Bou Said’s most famous landmarks is the “Ennejma Ezzahra” Palace (Star of Venus/Morning Star), built by the English Baron Rodolphe d’Erlanger. Its architectural design uniquely combines Arab-Andalusian style with European touches. Today, the palace houses the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean Music, where it displays a rich collection of rare musical instruments and historical documents, and hosts cultural events that reflect Tunisian artistic heritage.

With its breathtaking views of the Gulf of Tunis, the palace and Sidi Bou Said in general constitute an unforgettable destination for art and beauty enthusiasts, where history meets natural charm in its most splendid form.
